Newsletter 7 May 2012

Dear Parents & Caregivers

Kia ora koutou katoa

Today marked a new chapter in the delivery of oral health care to our children. Our dental clinic was decommissioned last year and henceforth our children will receive their dental attention at the Dental School.

We made a considerable fuss when the DHB closed our clinic so in response the DHB has provided our children with transport to and from the appointments.

Today saw the first group of children bundled off to experience the new way. I am pleased to report that all seems to have gone well. We will keep a close eye on the new system and if necessary will challenge the DHB to ensure it works well for our children.

Did you know that families who hold a community services card can get specs for children for free? One of our school mums works at OPSM in town and wants everyone to know about the scheme that pays for children’s glasses if parents cannot afford to pay for them. Talk to Mrs Lindsay for further
information.

Kia kaha tatou katoa ki te tautoko o tatou tamariki, mokopuna hoki.

John McKenzie
Principal
