Newsletter 4 April 2012

4 April 2012 Term 1 Week 10 12/9
Dear Parents & Caregivers
Kia ora koutou katoa

Some Misbehaviour in the Playground
The teachers have noticed an increase recently in the number of incidents of misbehaviour in the playground. The main culprits are senior boys who seem less interested in soccer and basketball and more interested in games loosely based on X-Box type games.

As a result the senior staff have :
developed plans to shorten the lunch hour;
arranged for Sport Otago to do some coaching with the older children;
sought advice from our Police Education Officer about how to deal with the increasing prevalence of children playing inappropriate X-Box and on-line games.

We have also called in a number of parents to discuss their child’s behaviour. We keep thorough records on behaviour. If you are concerned about your child’s behaviour or are keen to know if he or she is getting up to mischief at school please ask the classroom teacher or Mrs Staynes.

It is always helpful to keep good lines of communication open with your child. Ask them how they behave at school and if they get praised or told off for their actions.

On behalf of the staff I would like to wish all school families a happy Easter and a safe and restful holiday.

Kia kaha tatou katoa ki te tautoko o tatou tamariki, mokopuna hoki.

John McKenzie
Principal
