Newsletter 6 June 2013

6 June 2013                Term 2 Week 5                  13/16

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Congratulations
We offer congratulations to staff members Whaea Marama who gained her Maori studies degree with honours recently and Mrs Leia Silby, gifted and talented teacher who gained her Masters in Education. Well done!

Some Thoughts
Last month the staff held a late afternoon session for parents to present some behaviour ideas for the home. One brave soul attended! Last week we offered the chance for parents to attend a maths session on a Monday morning. Only three parents from education sites across the Valley turned up. I would be keen for people to let us know what is a good time for parents to attend school related workshops so we can better meet the needs of our community.

Finally
Thanks to those who accepted a nomination to be a school trustee. Congratulations to those who have been elected and thanks to those who missed out. I believe the Minister of Education has decided to appoint commissioners to schools which did not get enough interest from the community to fill vacancies on their Boards. We are indeed lucky to have such commitment from our parents.

John McKenzie
Principal

Welcome
Welcome to Austin and Brooke who have started in R11, Ethen who has started in R10 and Enya who has started in R2. We welcome their families to our school community.
