Newsletter 14 May 2013

14 May 2013              Term 2 Week 2                       13/13

Dear Parents & Caregivers
Kia ora koutou katoa

Swimming
When I first came to NEV Normal, the teachers took the swimming lessons. This made for stressed out teachers - they had to get the children to the pool, help them get into their togs, take the lesson, help them get dry and clothed and return them to school and carry on with the days programme.

Thanks to the PTA and the school donation we now contract Jill Clarke Swim School to provide swimming tuition. What a change for our staff and what a better service for the children.

We do appreciate the efforts of the PTA and those who support them and those who pay the school activity donation.

Art Installation
One of our parents, Moira Crossman, has been working on a seating space in front of the school hall. Moira works mainly with Oamaru stone and in this instance adds local macrocarpa and clay tiles made by some of our children to create a space for ‘Korero”, where people can sit and talk; a space where groups can be welcomed.

Moira’s work complements the two carved pou which are in that same area. He mihi nui tenei ki a koe Moira mo to mahi ataahua!

Kia Kaha tatou Katoa ki te tautoko o tatou tamariki, mokopuna hoki.

John McKenzie
Principal

Anchor Milk Fundraiser at the Gardens New World
NEVN School has been picked as one of the Charities given the opportunity to raise funds through the Anchor Milk fundraising scheme. Starting this week; every time you buy Anchor milk at the Gardens New World, you will be given a red token that you can put into the NEVN School box at the entrance to the shop. After three months the tokens will be counted up and we will receive a proportion of the funds available. THE MORE TOKENS WE GET – THE MORE MONEY WE RAISE!! Please tell your friends about this and let’s raise some serious money for our school!!
