Newsletter 24 September 2012

24 September 2012    Term 3 Week 11    12/30
Dear Parents & Caregivers
 Kia ora koutou katoa

Some Reminders
Patience Please
I have noticed recently some impatient behaviour at the Longworth Street entrance - people stop to drop off or pick up children at the ½ turn-a-round then other cars come up behind and toot or drive aggressively.

Please be patient with fellow parents. Aggressive behaviour and aggressive driving is not only a poor example to children, it is also dangerous.

Here are some guidelines:
  • The turn-a-round is not a car park;
  • It is okay to drop off and pick up children at the turn-a-round but do not linger;
  • Do not bring vehicles onto the property, to drop off or collect children at the start and end of the day;
  • Be careful backing up as children shoot through the gate at a pace - you may not see them in your mirrors;
  • If another driver annoys you, keep calm; take an opportunity later to address the issue.
Road Patrol
The road patrol is traditionally supervised by parents. There are a few gaps in the roster currently so if you are able to be at school and take a patrol, please let Mrs Staynes know.

Keen on Some Training
Seasons for Growth is a programme for children and young people who have experienced loss of a significant person through death, separation or divorce. The NEV Education Council is keen to sponsor 2 or 3 locals to do the facilitation training. Interested? Leave your name at the school office. Dates for training: 23 and 24 November 2012.

Security Over the Holidays
Please contact First Security 0800347 787 if there is a security issue at school over the holidays. I suggest parents save this number on their mobile phones. The number is also on the 2012 fridge magnet.

On behalf of the staff I wish school families a restful and safe school holidays.

Kia kaha tatou katoa ki te tautoko o tatou tamariki, mokopuna hoki.
