Newsletter 6 March 2012

6 March 2012 Term 1 Week 6 12/5

Dear Parents & Caregivers
Kia ora koutou katoa

I have written before in this newsletter about the issue of primary aged children playing inappropriate Xbox type games. Well just these last few days we have had some argy bargy at school amongst some of our older children which seems to stem from what they are saying to each other on Facebook. This causes us considerable concern. There have been cases reported in the media of children intimidating other children via social media sites and parents have not found out until something serious happens.

I therefore urge all parents to take this warning seriously – be aware that some of the things our children are doing online and especially on Facebook are causing trouble which is spilling over into school life. Please monitor your child’s online activity.

Kia Kaha tatou Katoa ki te tautoko o tatou tamariki, mokopuna hoki.

John McKenzie
Principal
