Newsletter 27 September 2011

27 September 2011 Term 3 Week 9 11/20

Dear Parents & Caregivers
Kia ora koutou katoa

Rugby Friday
This coming weekend is a big weekend for sports lovers: the last World Cup game to be held in Dunedin; the ABs play Canada; and of course the mighty Warriors get an opportunity to take out the NRL Championship.

Therefore we have made this Friday a Rugby Mad day. Children can dress in sports colours or uniforms of their choice. We’ll decorate the school with a few flags and buntings. At lunch time we’ll have an Ireland vs Italy touch game.

Homework
The Board of Trustees are reviewing our homework policy this term. They would like to hear parents’ views on this matter. Leave a note at the office, email the Board at office@nevn.school.nz or give your views to a teacher who will reports your views to the Board.

Dental Clinic Closure
Our school dental clinic is now closed and will no longer be used as a dental clinic. The local DHB has ‘restructured’ the school dental service. We have fought the DHB on this issue but sadly have lost! So henceforth our children will have their dental care needs met at the Otago School of Dentistry. Please read the attached information sheet which explains the new system. I acknowledge all of the wonderful dental nurses and therapists who have served in our wee school clinic. This system lasted 90 years and has now come to an end.

Kia Kaha tatou katoa ki te tautoko o tatou tamariki, mokopuna hoki.

John McKenzie
Principal
