Marae Trip
The weather held out for us on Thursday and we had a wonderful trip to Karitane to visit Puke Te Raki Marae. The marae complex overlooks the settlement and the views of the coastline and ocean are spectacular.

The marae is a modern building with very modern artworks adorning the entrance way and the buildings. The children were treated to a formal welcome after which we all shared morning tea. After the formalities local tutors taught the children weaving, string games and local history.

Many thanks to the marae whanau and to the parent helpers for their support.

Thank you to those parents who paid the $12.50 cost of the trip. Please send payment to school with your child if your child’s activity donation has not been paid up to T2 at least.

Rainbow Class
The final Rainbow Class for the term will be held this Thursday 10 June from 1.15 to 2.45pm in the new entrant room. If you have a 4 year old who would like to join this transition to school class, please contact Mrs Will or the office.

Assembly
Assembly will be held in the Hall this Friday at 2.20pm. It will be led by Room 8 with items by Rooms 3 & 10. Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend.

Scholastic Book Club
Orders and money for Issue 4 need to be into the office by Wednesday 16 June. Please make cheques payable to Scholastic NZ.

PTA Hot Lunches
This Friday the menu is:
1 savoury mince pie and oven fries for $1.50. Hot Milo for 0.50c. Please bring a cup for Milo. Orders with money in a named envelope with the room number to the office by 9am please.

Smart Food School Lunches
Smart Food lunches are available on Mondays and Thursdays at NEVNS. The lunch consists of two sandwiches, a piece of fruit, a home made
biscuit or muffin and a jelly or milk pudding for $2.50; larger lunch with two extra sandwiches for $3.50. Orders and money need to be in to the School Office by 9am.

Sports Results
Last Tuesday our netball team played Forbury School and lost 6 goals to 11. TJ was player of the day.

Casual Vacancy

A casual vacancy has occurred on the board of trustees for an elected parent representative.

The board has resolved under section 105 of the Education Act 1989 to fill the vacancy by selection.

If 10% or more of the eligible voters on the school roll ask the board, within 28 days of this notice being published, to hold a by-election to fill the vacancy, then a by-election will be held. Any eligible voter who wishes to ask the board to hold a by-election should write to:

Fruit and Veg. Fundraiser
Orders and money need to be into the office by this Thursday 10th June. Produce will be delivered to the school on Thursday 17th June and can be collected after 3pm.

Tuesday June 15th at 3.15pm in the Parents Room. All welcome to attend.

Autism Awareness Week: Amazing Race Around Dunedin: Sunday 13 June 1pm car rally around the streets of Dunedin with a few challenges on the way! Starting point is the Dunedin Ice Stadium car park. $20 a car load or $5 per person. Amazing prizes and BBQ food for sale. Register your team 474 9640.

Valley OSCAR School Holiday Programme: for children aged 5-14 years. Dates: 5th – 9th July from 8:30am – 5:30pm. Where: North East Valley Baptist Church Hall, 270 North Road. Costs: $30 per day, hourly rates also available. WINZ
subsides available and discounts for more than one family member. Activities include: trips to the Anatomy Museum and the movies. We will also be having a visiting artist who will teach children two different art forms. For more information contact Janette on 473 9143 or drop into the church office to pick up an enrolment form. Enrolments close 30th June.

An Evening with Nigel Latta: on the subject “Before Your Teenagers Drive You Crazy” At the Otago Boys High School Auditorium on Monday 14 June @ 7.30pm. Tickets are $20 per person. Phone 454 4717.

Lantern Making Workshops: for the mid winter carnival on 12-13 June at 10am & 1pm in the Pioneers Hall, George St, Port Chalmers. Cost $5 per lantern.
