Dear Parents & Caregivers

Stars on Stage

The senior children and their teachers as well as
Jacqueline O’Brien, Cheryl Cartmell, Lynne Buijck and teacher assistant Victoria Cooper have been working flat out lately as they prepare for the
biennial Stars on Stage performance. The theme this year is fire and particularly the Australian bush fires. The mixture of dance, drama, music and costumes make for a memorable performance. Congratulations to the teachers and adults - the dress rehearsal last Friday was well received by the large local crowd.

For many children this will be their only opportunity to perform in a proper theatre in front of a large
audience so for that reason alone it is a special event and well worth the extra effort put in by staff,
children and parents. Stars on Stage also gives the children a taste of performing in a major production – all are expected to participate regardless of
training or skill – so the children are thus challenged to do something new and perhaps unfamiliar to them!

Many parents are disappointed that they have missed out on buying tickets for the show. We have made our protests to the organizers about this but there is not much more we can do. We believe the ticket sales process will be reviewed following the problems faced by parents this year.

Finally, good luck to the children for the upcoming performance.

Security after hours

DNI had a break in last week and they lost some computer gear and other expensive items. The same weekend, a young man was caught by the police
trying to break in to our school. As a result we have stepped up our afterhours security patrols. However, I ask all parents and neighbours to be vigilant in keeping an eye on the school in the evenings and over the weekends.
